Sydney’s 30th annual birthday festivities!

Date January 23, 2009

I’ve always made a big deal out of my birthdays – and the birthdays of my friends as well.  It’s so much fun to shop for great cards for my girlfriends, and I receive a lot of really terrific ones too.  For years I had big parties, but lately have more small or one-on-one dinners.

Those of you who get my newsletter read about The Big Night itself already, but for those of you who haven’t, here is a reprint:  Even though my annual 30th birthday was last week, I spread out the festivities over the entire month! On “The Night” itself, we celebrated at Aureole, a beautiful private townhouse where I once had what still rates as the best meal in my entire life. We drank Taittinger champagne and had and the four-course tasting menu (my choices were foie gras, medallions of venison, small dishs of three different kinds of crème brulee for dessert and finished up with a cheese course). I was so full I couldn’t eat a thing the entire next day!

My assistant, Patty, and her boyfriend both have birthdays within two weeks of mine, and every year we get together in her big loft apartment in Chelsea and she cooks a wonderful dinner and I bring dessert.  Once again, I couldn’t eat another thing the next day!  She is a terrific cook and we always have such a good time together.

My friend Marcia McCabe, who some of you may remember as Sunny from the now discontinued soap opera, Search for Tomorrow, always takes me somewhere fabulous, and this year we went to Porterhouse in the Time Warner building.  We had a booth overlooking Central Park, a bottle of Charles Heidsieck champagne, a porterhouse steak for two, and the best creamed spinach ever made!  Oh, and an ice cream sundae for dessert.  Yummm…  She took pictures, but is the only person I know besides Dan Kennedy who does not have email, so I can’t post then for you.

Then last night, I went with another friend who runs a private equity firm and whose birthday is a week before mine, to PJ Clarkes, which is right across from Lincoln Center.  He told the waiter to keep the cocktails coming, and eventually we had some appetizers, but basically it was a liquid meal!  He walked me the seven blocks home to my apartment and believe me, we both needed that blast of cold air!

One more dinner this weekend at the home of an old friend, and I believe that’s it for this year.  I hope all of you make a big deal out of your birthdays too.  It’s the one day of the year where you’re the star, so go for it!

Tele-seminar with Dan Kennedy

Date January 23, 2009

Dan Kennedy and I are doing two free LIVE tele-seminars for our new book, Uncensored Sales Strategies, on Thursday, January 29th at 8:00PM EST and again on Friday, January 30th at 1:00PM EST.  They are being hosted by Bill Glazer and we are expecting several thousand people on the call.

Dan does not believe in providing links to calls for those who have missed them, so if you don’t listen in live, you won’t get another chance.  Register at www.uncensoredsalessecrets.com/entreprenuer now.

At the end of each call, you will have the opportunity to call in with questions, so be sure to take advantage of this rare opportunity to speak with Dan and the not-as-rare opportunity to talk to me!

Rush, Joy, Regis and Kelly!

Date January 19, 2009

Six radio interviews in two days – it takes a few before you hit your stride, so the later ones went more smoothy than the first few.  This getting up at the crack of dawn on Saturday morning is for the birds, but Don Russell on WBT in Charlote was so great it was worth it!

Just finished up writing letters and autographing books to Rush Limbaugh and his producer, Kit Carson; Joy Behar of the View and one of their producers, Jennifer Brookman; and finished off with Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa and their producer, Michael Gelman.  I’ll keep you updated on the results.

Spoke to Colleen Francis who is putting on the Engage Powerhouse Sales Event in April about the free teleseminar we’re doing Wednesday the 21st.  Look up on the left hand side at the top of the blog home page for where you can sign up.  It’s going to be a really information-packed call.  There will be live Q&A at the end; I hope you’ll call in with your questions!

Why Should You Listen To Me?

Date December 16, 2008

Why not? Most successful people will tell you that one of the best ways to make it to the top is to model yourself after other successful people. Model yourself after a Madam, you ask yourself? Why not? It’s not called The World’s Oldest Profession for nothing! They’ve had centuries to test every conceivable marketing and selling idea, adapt to all kinds of challenges and changes, and devise innumerable, creative ways to cater to more niche and sub-niche markets than any other business I can think of. So how did a nice girl like me end up in that business?

This is just a test post. More to come.
