Is this you??
You know your business needs “something”,
but haven’t been able to figure
out what that might be
You have a great idea,
but aren’t quite sure how to execute it
You have challenges you just haven’t been
able to work out, and could use some fresh
ideas and strategies
It’s not easy to run your own business! We start out thinking how great it is to be your own boss, call all the shots, work on your own schedule… until you realize that you’re not just the boss, you’re often the only employee, too.
Yes you call all the shots, but that doesn’t always mean you know what to aim at! And how many of us have come to realize that “work your own schedule” often means most of the day? And night. And weekends.
You know what they say,
“Be careful what you wish for,
because you just might get it”
But the most challenging thing about being an entrepreneur? You’re all on your own. When you’re the one responsible for making every decision, don’t you ever wish you had someone to use as a sounding board first?
Who ya gonna call when you’ve got questions, but no good answers?
What’s Plan B when you rub the bottle and the genie who’s supposed to come up with the solution is MIA?
Which voice are you going to listen to? The one on the right who tells you it’s a brilliant idea, or the one on the left who says, “Yeah, yeah, yeah, but how are you going make it work?
Maybe you do have a VA who’s a whiz with the shopping cart or a bookkeeper who keeps track of the money, but who do you have to brainstorm with about making that money in the first place?
Even if you do have a few employees, they usually have very specific duties and coming up with new products, programs or services probably isn’t one of them.
Coming up with effective marketing strategies, outstanding marketing campaigns, and enticing promotions probably isn’t one of them.
Being responsible for solving major challenges and making decisions that could have far-reaching consequences likely isn’t one of them.
And being able to talk about your business with them like you would talk about your personal life with a close personal friend definitely isn’t one of them.
What’s an entrepreneur to do?
What do other entrepreneurs do?
They find someone to talk to, that’s what they do. Look around at your most successful peers. You’ll find that the majority of them collaborate with other colleagues or an experienced authority in one way or another.
Maybe they do it casually, maybe they invest in consulting time, maybe they do it in a coaching group, but one thing for sure is, they do it.
“How do I know what to look for?”
Simple: you team up with someone you know has been successful themselves. For an entrepreneur, preferably someone who is also an entrepreneur and has real-life experience starting a business from nothing, and turned it into a big hit. Even better, someone who’s done that more than once.
You want someone who is enough like you that they get who you are, yet is different enough to have insights, ideas and perspectives that you don’t. An added bonus is someone who is fun to work with, but that’s just a matter of luck!
Look for someone with a proven track record
The ability to be resourceful isn’t something you learn from a book, I don’t care who wrote it.
Honing the skills to look at a difficult or perplexing issue and see a number of possible ways to deal with and resolve it takes real-life experience.
Seek out someone who’s done that over and over, because the more they’ve done it, the better they are at it.
You should be looking for an entrepreneur who has walked in your shoes, knows first-hand the challenges solo-preneurs, entrepreneurs and small businesses face.
You want them to have real-life experience they can draw from, and know-how you can benefit from.
When you have questions and problems, you need them to have the background to come up with realistic answers and proven solutions.
Have they been in the trenches themselves?
I didn’t go to business school and never took a serious business course. Retailing was a great foundation and looking back, more often than not I used that general framework and then just did what made sense.
When you don’t know what you’re “supposed to do”, it leaves open all kinds of possibilities you never would have considered if you’d learned “the right way to do it” in school.
That’s probably the most valuable asset I bring to the table.
So, are you ready to:
Shake things up a bit?
Refresh your current programs, products or services?
Introduce something new to your clients and customers?
Raise your prices by adding more value to what you offer?
Add, tweak or upgrade your sales choreography so that your customers have an even more delightful and pleasurable experience with you?
Gain a fresh POV or perspective on what else is possible?
If the answer is YES! then what better time to do something about it, than right now?
First, we start out with a complimentary 30-minute Business Strategy Session so you can tell me what’s going on and what you expect or hope we’ll accomplish during our time together. This will give you the opportunity to tell me everything about you, your business, and what you’d like assistance with. With the back story out of the way, we’ll be able to spend 100% of the time focusing on making your business even more profitable, and addressing the issues you’d like to resolve.
“When do we get started?”
Probably within a week. I like to take some time after the Strategy Session to think about and mull over what possibilities and approaches would be the most practical and appropriate for your situation, so that on our first call, we can dive right in.
First we’ll have a one-hour brainstorming call to narrow down exactly what you’re seeking to create, change, improve or resolve during the next few weeks.
We might look at the products and services you’re currently offering and discuss the possibility of modifying them, adding value and raising the price, retiring them, pricing them differently, etc
If you’re having “issues and challenges” we’ll investigate what’s not working and why, what needs tightening up, or how the situation can be dealt with, fixed or improved
Maybe you have a product you’d like to create or a service you’d like to launch, something you’d like to add to what you’re already offering
Or perhaps you have other matters you’d like advice on, or you’re looking for new strategies that would work better than the ones you’re already using
Once we’ve established whatever it is you want to focus on, we’ll brainstorm determine the most practical and effective place to start, and sketch out a Plan
Implementing The Plan
The second call is also for a full hour, and we’ll address exactly how we’re going to execute the Plan we came up with in the brainstorming session.
After having had time to think it over, we’ll both discuss ideas and strategies that would be the most effective, practical, simple, easy, and quick for you to implement, and this will be our Game Plan
We’ll break the Game Plan down into steps, and prioritize the order in which each step should be taken
Once that’s in place, we’ll break those steps down into easily manageable smaller steps, and create an Action Plan that’s realistic and easy to follow, so that you know what to do, when to do it, and how to do it
In order to optimize the amount of time it will take to implement the Game Plan, we’ll determine what steps only you can do and which could be delegated – to your staff, your VA, a temporary person, or otherwise outsourced
Our third call is for 30 minutes, and you can choose to schedule it next week, next month, or wait until you have a better idea of when you might need or want it.
We’ll review your progress and how things are shaping up
Unexpected challenges or issues may have cropped up, and we’ll discuss out how to deal with them
You’ll probably have questions, or things you’d like clarification on
We may need to revise the Action Plan, because it isn’t working out the way we’d expected
You may have discovered that certain steps are taking longer than envisioned, or that the person to whom you delegated a task is not up to the job.
Sometimes certain actions produce unintended results or consequences that were not foreseen when we formulated the original plan.
If this happens, we’ll adjust the plan to accommodate the current situation.
Review and look ahead
On the fourth call, which is also 30 minutes, we’ll review how much you’ve accomplished.
We’ll celebrate how far you’ve come, and how much more, if anything, there’s left to do!
If things are still a “work in progress”, we’ll talk about the open issues and the most effective and practical way best to complete or resolve them
What if I want to have it my way?
It’s your time and you can use it any way you please.
It never expires, you can schedule your calls as close together or as far apart as you’d like, and it’s usually possible to be flexible with the length of the calls.
You still receive the complimentary 30-minute Business Strategy Session and then you can decide what you’d like to do next.
Rewind and replay forever!
In order to eliminate the distraction of taking notes, you can opt to receive an mp3 recording of your calls, so you can go back and refer to them as often as you like. This allows you to better optimize our time together, and gives you a permanent record of everything we discussed.
We all know that &#% happens, which is why you also get a short-notice, 15-minute emergency phone call so that you can receive help, feedback and answers to your pressing questions right away.
To sum it up, you will receive:
A complimentary 30-minute Business Strategy Session
Three full hours of one-on-one consulting time
An mp3 recording of every call
One 15-minute short-notice emergency phone call
The freedom to book your calls and use your time in the way that works best for you – and is mutually agreeable with both our schedules
Your total investment for all of the above is $1497 and if you prefer, you can take care of it in three consecutive monthly installments of $499 each.
With warm wishes for your health, happiness and prosperity,
